Elizabeth Mae Nichols, daughter of John and Mary Nichols, was born January 6, 1874, near Bedford, Ind. February 15, 1894, she was married to Al C. Abbott at Lebanon, Neb. The young couple made their home in that vicinity until 1912, when they removed to Fillmore county, Nebraska, and settled four miles southeast of Fairmont. There they continued to live until the death of Mr. Abbott, December 3, 1939. Recent years she had resided in Fairmont.
Mrs. Abbott was united with the Presbyterian church at Lebanon in April, 1894. She was a member of that church until 1918, when she transferred to the Congregational church at Fairmont, of which church she was a faithful member at the time of her death. She taught in the Sunday school at Lebanon for many years; and later was superintendent of the Sunday school at Sawyer.
She joined the Lebanon Rebekah Lodge No. 210, when organized in 1905, and later transferred her membership to Star Rebekah lodge in Fairmont.
She liked to read and was well informed on current topics; and enjoyed the companionship of her many friends.
A kind and loving mother, she leaves surviving, her son, Floyd H. Abbot, his wife Thelma Abbott, and their daughter, Elizabeth Abbott, to whom she was deeply devoted; also a brother R. H. Nichols of Brock, Neb.
"Beyond this vale of tears
There is a life above
Unmeasured by the flight of years;
And all that life is love."
