Phillip A. Isley, 75, a native of Jasper County and prominent Mesa, Ariz., citizen, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 1962, at a hospital in the Arizona city. He had been in ill health the past few years.
Funeral services were held last Tuesday in Mesa.
Mrs. Isley was born in North Muddy Township, Jasper County, a son of R. A. and Mary (Koontz) Isley.
He married Jessie Trimble, who survives.
Mr. Isley left Jasper County in 1915 for Arizona, where he served five terms as county treasurer of Maricopa County, retiring two years ago because of ill health. He previously was a member of Arizona's 12th and 13th legislatures. He served six years on the county board of supervisors and was named state dairy commissioner by the governor in 1947.
He was active in civic clubs and for eight years was president of Mesa's Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a member of the school board before consolidation of the districts in 1947.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Kelly of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Clifford of Mesa; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Steger of New York state and Mrs. Ernie (Beulah) Bear of Wheeler, Ill.
