Martha LeFevre, wife of Supervisor Charles A. Schermerhorn, died Sunday morning after a long illness. She had (been) a patient sufferer for several years and throughout her entire illness displayed a most cheerful spirit. She was a woman of noble character and beloved by a wide circle of friends. Mrs. Schermerhorn was born in the town of Rosendale and was a daughter of Samuel LeFevre and Sarah Ackerman. She was married to Mr. Schermerhorn at the Fair Street Reformed Church by their pastor, the late Rev. Dr. David D. Demarest, on September 30, 1874. During nearly all of her married life she had resided at No. 36 Pearl street. She was an active member of the Fair Street Reformed Church for many years. She was also a member of the Wiltwyck Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; Clinton Chapter, No. 445, Order of the Eastern Star, and several other organizations. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, a grandson and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place from her late residence on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock with interment in Wiltwyck Cemetery. All members of Wiltwyck Chapter, D. A. R., are requested to meet at the home of Mrs. DeWitt Roosa, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock to attend, in a body, the funeral of the late Mrs. Charles Schermerhorn.
