VELMA L. EHLERDING, 95, formerly of New Haven and Decatur, passed away Friday Dec. 24, 2010 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Willshire, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Theodor and Amalia Hofmann. She was a member of Martini Lutheran Church, New Haven. Previously, she belonged to Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim, their sewing circle and Ladies Aid. She was devoted to her family, raising her four children while working side by side with her husband on their Decatur dairy farm. She loved quilting, cross stitch, knitting and gardening. She is survived by her sons, Don (Mary Kay) Ehlerding of Ft. Wayne, Darrel (Kim) Ehlerding of Decatur, Dale (Joyce) Ehlerding of Ft. Wayne; son-in-law, Henry Cheung; grandchildren, Christian Cheung, Jamie (Randy) Miller, Jaclyn (Stefan) McVey, Jeremy, Justin (Kristi), Jared, Donovan, Madelyn, Aaron, Alex Ehlerding; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Ehlerding in 1998; daughter, Alice Cheung in 1989; granddaughter, Jana Ehlerding; two brothers; and 2 two sisters. Service is 10 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 28, 2010, at Martini Lutheran Church, 333 Moeller Rd., New Haven with calling one hour before service time. The Rev. Matt Kohl officiating. Calling is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
