Miss Jessie Hopkins
MATHEWS- Miss Jessie Pool(sic) Hopkins, 91, of Cardinal, died on Saturday, December 23, 1962, at Horn Harbor Nursing Home, New Point.
Miss Hopkins was a retired private school teacher.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. C. H. Kress, of mathews.
A funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24 at the Foster Funeral Home, Mathews, conducted by the Rev. J. Martin Diggs. Burial was in Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, Foster.
Pallbearers were Jack Clements, Edmund H. Jones, Gerald Jones, Andrew J. Billups, Milton Jones and Lorenzo Kimball.
A native of Parkmore, Ohio, Miss Hopkins was the daughter of William Ezra and Margaret Pool Hopkins. She attended schools in Parkmore and was graduated from Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
About 1909, she and a friend, Miss Georgien E. Mogford, came to Mathews to make their home. They established a private school known as The Log Cabin School, located at Cardinal.
Miss Hopkins was a past president of the Mathews Woman's Club and a member of the Mathews Garden Club.
