He left his home in the morning, seemingly as well and cheerful as usual to attend a sale, and while bidding on some machinery, the summons came and silently and peacefully he fell asleep to awaken in the great beyond. His wife and physician were summoned and all done that loving hands could do but without avail. The body was brought to his home in Ohiowa.
When a child he was brought by his parents, John R. and Adeline T. Heston, to a homestead in Fillmore County, one mile south of Milligan, where he resided until 1880, when they moved to the farm in Alexandria precinct, Thayer County, where he grew to manhood. His life was spent in these two counties where he was known to be an honest, industrious man, believed most by those who knew him best.
He was united in marriage January 1, 1891, to Velma Emmogene Garrison, daughter of the late Harve Garrison, and they made their home on their farm about seven miles southeast of Ohiowa.
In 1895, they were baptized in the Baptist Church at Ohiowa and united with the Christian Church here, of which he was a devoted believer until the time of his passing away.
They were the happy parents of six children, their only son dying in infancy, and five daughters still survive. His wife, Velma, preceded him to the great beyond June 10, 1901. In December 1899, before her death, the family moved to Ohiowa where he purchased the harness shop.
On March 22, 1905, he was united in marriage to Lizzie A. Heston, wife of his deceased brother, Seth B. Heston, thus uniting his family of five daughters with her family of one daughter and three sons. To this union were born three children, two daughters and one son.
