Eloise Dickerson Hester

Eloise Dickerson Hester, 76, of Sallis died Friday, August 8, 2003 at her residence of heart failure. Services were Sunday, August 10 at 3:00 p.m. at Sallis Baptist Church with burial in the Sallis Cemetery. Rev. Thomas Wicker and Rev. James Burrell officiated.

Mrs. Hester was the daughter of the late W.D. Dickerson and Fallie Mae Keen. She attended Mississippi College, and received her MFA from the University of Mississippi. She was retired from the U.S. Civil Service Commission, Choctaw Indian School and was also an accomplished artist. When Mrs. Hester was active she was a member of: Allison Wells Art Colony, Mississippi Art Association, The Women's Auxiliary of Governor Ross Barnett's staff and a member of the Sallis Twentieth Century Club. She was a member of Sallis Baptist Church. Her husband, Clyde Simpson Hester and son Clyde Edward Hester preceded her in death.

Survivors include: a son, George Hester of Sallis; a daughter, June Mixon of Greenwood; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were: Jason Hester, Adam Hester, Steven Rutledge, Jonbob Wise, Christian Burrell, Deacon Irby, Mark Rogers, Marvin Goodwin.

Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. Fletcher Shrock and Dickie Dickerson.
