Alma Irene Hicks, 68, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 near Seymour, Tx.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, December 27, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Seymour, with Rev. David Warren, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.

Alma was born July 14, 1942 in Dallas, Texas, to Jesse James and Fannie Mae Snyder Church. She came to Baylor County with her parents at the age of 2, and they lived on a farm west of town. She attended school in Seymour, and met her husband, Grady. They married October 30, 1959 and made their home in Seymour.

Alma will be remembered for her beautiful crocheted afghans, baby blankets, and photo albums. The minute she found out someone was going to have a baby, she was crocheting the baby blanket, and starting work on the photo album.

She loved making items for people, and although she sold many items, she gave just as many of them away.

Alma was an excellent "ironer", something most of us wouldn't see pleasure in doing, but she did. Her many clients are going to miss her perfection in ironing their clothes.

Alma was a member of the First Baptist Church and was very active, singing in the choir, and with special events the church might come up with. She assisted with various Youth activities on Wednesday night in years past, and had served on several church committees. She also was a member of the Seymour Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary for 8 years, and had served as a Voting Judge for Precinct #3 for 7 years.

Alma loved being active and loved being with family. She was always at all family gatherings and would surprise her family with some new dish she had learned to cook. Alma was a cancer survivor and has now gone to her heavenly home with our Lord. Alma will be missed greatly by all who loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Grady; a daughter, Judy Carol Spiwak and husband, Wes; her grandchildren, Amanda Matthews, Chelsae Squires and Landon Aytes; and her great-grandchildren Zachrey Matthews and Max Squires (due to make his arrival soon). She is also survived by five sisters, Margie Adams, Doris Cooper and husband, Edward, Pat Lassiter, Dixie Peacock and Judy Starr and husband, John; by two sisters-in-law, Peggy Roberts and Helen Hicks; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 6-7 P.M. Sunday evening, December 26, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Seymour Cemetery Association or Seymour Meals on Wheels.
