Rev. William Sheffey Hart, 71, of Ridgeley, formerly of Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital.

Rev. Hart was a retired United Medthodist Minister of the West Virginia Annual Conference for 42 years. He pastored five churches in Pennsylvania, three churches in Maryland, and nine churches in West Virginia.He was born in Charleston and graduated from Charleston High School, Morris Harvey College, and Drew Theological Seminary College.

He was a fifth great-grandson of John Hart, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

He was a member of the Chelyan Masonic Lodge, Civil Air Patrol Reserves, and an avid WVU football and basketball fan.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Sheffey B. Hart.He is survived by his wife, Chessie; mother, Anna M. Hart of South Charleston; daughters, Kathy Hart and Maggie (Rory) McCarthy, all of Ridgeley; son, William (Leah) Hart II of Vancouver, Wash.; sister, Beverly Bisbee of South Charleston; brother, Robert N. (Sallie) Hart of Charleston; aunts, Alice Haynes, Maye Agee, and Nellie Nutter; uncle, Earl Nutter; grandchildren, Cherish, Faith, Logan, Arwen, Alex, Amanda, Kevin, Chris, Cory, Nathan, and Jessica; one great-grandchild, Alessa; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, with the Rev. Monty Brown officiating at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery,
Charleston WV. Visition will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.Arrangements have been entrusted to Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston.
