Mr. Howell was employed by Haas-Davis Packing Company for over seventeen years. He later worked for Alabama Dry Docks and Shipping Company, retiring from Atlantic Marine. He was a member of Snow Road Missionary Baptist Church and was a local farmer. He loved to plant and had an amazing "green thumb." Although he stayed busy with his farm, he still enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sibley and Nevada Pierce Howell; five brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Doris MacCuish Howell; five children, Richard (Donna) Howell, Donna (Corbit) Harvison, all of Semmes, James Howell, Karen Campbell, both of Mobile, and Terry (Corrine) Howell of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Grover (Gloria) Howell of Wilmer; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held from Snow Road Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, December 27, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Long and Rev. H. R. Burge. Visitation will be Sunday, December 26, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Interment will be in Allentown Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Gene Havens, Michael Howell, Benny McAdams, and Russell Griffin. Active pallbearers are Coby Wilkins, Cheffy Renee, Danny Howell, David Harvison, Matthew Harvison, John Richardson, John Shoemaker, and Roger Bullard.
