Thomas F. Turflinger, aged 65 years and 4 months, a resident of Allen county for nearly half a century, formerly superintendent of the Allen county infirmary for a period of 7 years, and one of Allen county's best known and most progressive farmers, died at 9:30 o'clock last night at the family home, south of the city, on the Winchester road. Death was due to apoplexy and followed an illness of several weeks. Mr. Turflinger had not been in the best of health for the past two months, however.

Mr. Turflinger was born in Rockingham, Va., 9/6/1852, of Scotch parentage. When he was 2 years old his parents moved to Lima, Ohio, where he lived until he as 20 years old, when he came to Allen county, residing in this county continuously ever since. For 17 years he conducted a dairy on the Simons farm south of the city. Following his incumbency of 7 years as superintendent of the Allen county poor farm, Mr. Turflinger bought a farm on the Winchester road, where he has resided for the past 10 years.

He was united in marriage to Miss Lena Rehm in 1885.

Surviving relatives include besides the widow, 4 children: Oscar, of this city; Thomas F. Jr. and Miss Elsie Turflinger, residing at home; and Lieutenant Orin Turflinger,attached to division headquarters, 38th Division, US Army at Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. One grandchild, Master Thomas Henry Turflinger, also survives. 2 children, Myron and Burns Turflinger, preceded him in death.
