Greg Fairley Dies Suddenly
Greg Fairley, 45, died suddenly Saturday night at his home on route three.
Mr. Fairley, apparently feeling well, retired at his usual time, but awoke about 11:15 with intense pain, and died at midnight with acute indigestion.
Greg has spent his entire life here, having been born March 5, 1894, the same place which he lived at the time of his death.
He was a substantial farmer and stock raiser.
He was a member of the Cross Roads church, but attended at the Basin church regularly. He was well thought of by everyone, and everyone knew Greg Fairley to be honest and fair dealing, and had the respect of all.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock at the Fairley cemetery with Rev. N.S. Loftus in charge. Interment was in Fairley cemetery with McKay's Morticians directing.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Gregory L. (Jack), three sisters, Mrs. G.S. Helveston, Lucedale, Mrs. O.C. Steede, Laurel, and Mrs. Dewey Wyatt, of Citronelle, Ala., three brothers, Knox, Roy and Ollis, all of route three Lucedale, and other relatives, who receive sympathy of their friends in their great loss.
Active pallbearers were: R.O. Embry, J.E. Dale, H.J. Henegan, R.M. McKay, M.M. Griffin, Coyt T. McLeod.
Honorary pallbearers were: M.L. Malone, Dr. Ford Ratliff, Dr. J.A. Dorsett, Will Cochran, Art Gibson, West Baxter, Rich Goff, T.W. Persons, Bennie Taylor, Bowden Hobby, Murray Byrd, Joe Davis, Alfred Nyman, Henry Havard, Lyman Havard, John D. Parker.
