Orel L. Halford, 77, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, February 26, 1997, at Genesis Medical, East Campus in Davenport.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 29, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Runge Mortuary in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf, or the Salvation Army in his memory.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, West Liberty, Iowa.

Orel Lee Halford was born December 21, 1919 in Ozark County, Missouri, the son of Bird and Ada (Martin) Halford. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Mary Louise Maher in April 1946, in Nichols. Mary preceded him in death on February 21, 1955. He was employed with Alcoa, Davenport Works, in Davenport for 32 years, until his retirement in 1982. His hobbies included gardening, clocks and woodworking.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane (John) State Sr., of Rapids City, IL, and Donna Lopez of Davenport; four grandchildren, Christine (Mick) Webster, John State Jr., Shannon Lopez and Justin Lopez; one great-grandson; one brother, Merle (Ethel) Halford of Davenport; three half sisters, Nancy (Chet) Brentice and Wanda Amoni, both of Davenport and Susan (Tim) Harrison of LeMars; two half brothers, Gary (Maria) Halford of Yuma, AZ, and Jerry Halford of Oklahoma and one brother-in-law, Bernard Huber of Rock Island, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Lathea Yarrington and Opal Huber and one nephew, Richard Rauch.
