MATHEWS- Herbert Lee Figg, Sr., 77, died on Monday, December 24, 1962, at his residence at Hallieford after a lingering illness.

Mr. Figg was a retired employee of the Coca-Cola Bottling Works at Gloucester, where he had worked for 27 years.

He was a steward at Mathews Chapel Methodist Church, and a member of Chapel Lodge No. 235 IOOF, and Omaha Tribe No. 92, IORM.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Hudgins Figg, of Hallieford; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph M. Hudgins, of Onemo; a son, S/Sgt. Herbert L. Figg, Jr., stationed with the U. S. Army in Germany; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Carter of Portsmouth, Mrs. Carroll Foster and Mrs. Clemmie Brown, both of Gloucester.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26 at the Foster Funeral Home, Blakes, conducted by the Rev. Wilbur C. Thomas, pastor of Mathews Chapel Methodist Church. Burial was in the Mathews Chapel Cemetery, Cobbs Creek.

Pallbearers were Edwin Figg, Raymond Figg, Dorsey Rammell, Smith Figg, Lewis Tomlinson and Thomas Hudgins.
