"Deborah S. Pinkerton, 90, formerly of Manheim, died peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Luther Acres Retirement Community, Lititz. Born in Penn Township, she was the daughter of the late Paul B. and Elsie K. Miller Singer. For over nineteen years, Deb was a long-term substitute elementary school teacher for the Manheim Central School District; she started her teaching career in a one-room school at Elstonville in Rapho Township and later substituted in Penn and Elizabeth Townships and finished her teaching at the Elm Tree School. She was the loving wife of the late Paul E. Pinkerton who died in September of 2004. Deb and her husband Paul helped to deliver flowers for the former Pinkerton's Flowers of Manheim in their early years. She was an active and faithful member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, where she was a Sunday and Bible school teacher, served as a lay leader, usher, and on the altar guild. She graduated from Millersville State Teacher's College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Deb was a member of the Manheim Historical Society and volunteered for: the Nearly Nu Thrift Shop, Meals on Wheels in Manheim and Luther Acres Retirement Community in Lititz."
"Surviving are three daughters, three sons, nineteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; one brother, two sisters. Preceding her in death are four brothers: Reverend Dr. Roger M. Singer, Reverend Dr. James Singer, Luther M. Singer, Nevin M. Singer; two sisters: Rena M Singer, and Charlotte M. Singer."
"Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2 South Hazel Street, Manheim on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 7:30 PM with Pastor James W. Roth officiating. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Sun Hill Road, Manheim on Saturday morning at 9:30 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Friday evening from 6:30 PM until the time of the service.
