Judd Jerry Culligan, 58, well known local retail clerk for many years and of late in the employ of Gilder Bros, clothiers, died suddenly on Sunday Jan. 19 1947, of a heart attack. Funeral services are to be held at St Mary's church tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9:00 o'clock, solemn requiem mass being sung by the Rev. J.J. Smith. Burial will be made in St Mary's Cemetery.
Mr Culligan, son of the late Martin and Mary Kane Culligan of Littleport Iowa, was born there April 12, 1888, received his education at Masonville, this county, and on Oct 6, 1914, was united in marriage at Masonville with Genevieve Taylor. They later came to Manchester, their home for many years. Surviving are the Widow; two daughters, Mrs Laverne Bockenstedt and Mrs Helen Kennedy of Manchester; a sister Mrs Mary Callahan of Emmetsburg; two brothers, Michael of Sprague Wash; and Simon of Emmetsburg; and two grandsons, Jerry Lee and Robert Kennedy.
A member of the Catholic church from childhood. Mr Culligan was a faithful member of that communion and lived a life in conformity with its teachings. By all by whom he was employed he was regarded as an honest and trustworthy man, worthy of the confidence reposed in him by the community, a good citizen and a devoted husband and father. His wife and children, to whom his death is the greatest of sorrows, have the earnest sympathy of all.
