AN INQUEST NECESSARY - Owing to an informality in the death certificate of the wife of Mr. Peder O. Aune, the photographer, Coroner Cornelius found it necessary yesterday to hold an inquest on the body of the woman in order to determine the cause of death. Mrs. Aune died Friday morning, from septic poison, resulting from childbirth. No physician was in attendance on the woman. She was cared for by Mrs. Sandberg, a midwife, and Dr. Osmon Royal was only summonsed to reach the bedside of the woman as she died. The required certificate did not state distinctly the cause of death, and the attention of the coroner was called to the case by the health department. Coroner Cornelius impaneled a jury, and Dr. Royal made a postmortem examination of the body, after which the coroner allowed interment on a special permit. The inquest will be continued on Monday, at the morgue, when the cause of death will be determined. Since the passage of the new medical law, no one but a licensed physician is allowed to sign a death certificate, and Mrs. Sandberg, therefore, could not do so, and Dr. Royal was not sufficiently aware of the woman's condition, prior to the death, to set forth its actual cause.
