The O'Leary family was uprooted from Nett Lake to Seaside, Ore. during World War II, but returned to Northern Minnesota where Loretta graduated from Orr High School in 1953, along with her brother, Leonard G. and younger sister, Sharon (who now resides in Santee, Calif. with her husband Howard Bass).
Loretta married United States Navy Petty Officer Leslie D. Emery of Eveleth on June 22, 1957, in Aiken, S.C. Her brother Len, stationed at Fort Gordon, Ga. stood up with them. Les and Loretta became permanent residents of San Diego in 1961, and were joined by Loretta's parents and siblings. She was a member of Calvary Southern Baptist Church of Linda Vista She enjoyed traveling, Las Vegas, baseball, cats (especially her tiny Josie), Little League and dining out.
She was a loving and cherished wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and not only mother to her own children, but to numerous neighborhood children for over four decades.
Loretta is survived by her loving husband; children: Shari (Pete) Farrimond, Leslie David "Rigger" and his wife Patti, and Loretta "Dissey" Emery; grandsons: Joey, Kyle and Nico; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Internment of her ashes was in the family plot at the Bois Forte Cemetery.
