Stricken with a heart attack in front of the p[ost office Monday Roy Edward Carter died almost immediately in the office of Dr. G. M. Larson at about 3:30 p.m. He had driven his car uptown, shopped at the store and picked up his mail at the post office, speaking pleasantly to some boys on the street and suddenly collapsed.
He was born in Bethel, Ore., March 14, 1888, and spent all his life in this state. He had lived at Willamina, Hillsboro and was at Toledo 14 years before coming to Brownsville four years ago. He was a mill worker.
He was married at Dallas
feburary 26, 1913 to Florence Dickey who survives him, as do a son, Elton Carter of Silverton; a daughter, Evelyn Woods of Junction City; and two sisters, Alta Hetzler of Amity and Myrtle Wade of Sheridan.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am. this morning at the Assembly of God of which he was a member. Rev. C. R. Norman, pastor, officiated and Mrs. Norman was soloist. Interment will be in Willamina cemetery. The Fisher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
