James Henry Davidson, 87, of 579 16th St. S.E., retired farmer, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at home after a year's ill health. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Manton-Fry Funeral Home by Rev. J.L. Wideman, with burial in Evergreen. Pallbearers will be Dan Hatcher, Luther Davidson, Arch Davidson, John Strother, Bill Strother and John Swint. He is survived by his wife Hattie, and these children: Miss Robbie Davidson and Miss Ruby Davidson, Mrs. Ila Wright, Mrs. Irene Barnes, Mrs. Dollie Dicken, all of Paris; Mrs. Josie Wright, Birch Tree, MO; Mrs. Mary Turner and J.A. Davidson, Tucson, AZ; Mrs. Marie Watson, Huntsville, TX; and Mrs. Willie Mae Roper, Decatur, AL; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Mr. Davidson was born July 27, 1859 in Sulphur Rock, Arkansas, the third of five children born to John Henry & Harriet Haddock Davidson. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Margaret, son Edgar, and daughters Bettie Davidson, Carrie Brewer and Dora Wayman. He and his children Ila, Josie, Dave and Etta relocated from Arkansas to Delta County, TX in 1909. He married the former Hattie Adams on Oct. 21, 1915 in Delta County. Their family settled in the Glory community of Lamar County about 1923, moving to Paris about five years ago.
