Carol (Lysager) Holman, age 93, of Washburn, passed away, Monday, December 20, 2010 at Northern Light Health Care Center. She was born June 21, 1917 in Washburn, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Peterson) Lysager.
Carol was a 1935 graduate of Walker High School in Washburn. She married Glenn "Bud" Holman on September 9, 1940 in Ashland. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Washburn. She volunteered at the ABC Thrift Store, Historical Society, Senior Citizens Center and at Northern Lights Nursing Home all of Washburn.
Carol had a life long love for music. She served as the organist at the Messiah Lutheran church for over 25 years. She also enjoyed playing at the local nursing homes and for her family. Carol was Washburn's honored citizen in 2005. She was an avid reader, Milwaukee Brewers fan and loved animals.
She is survived by her three daughters, Karin Smith of Washburn, Gayle "Tootie" Holman of Washburn and Betsy (James) Koval of Benoit; two sons, Stewart Holman of Ashland and John (Donna) Holman of Minneapolis, MN; three grandchildren, Becky (Wes) Vork of Carlton, MN, David Smith of Brule and Alexandria Holman of Minneapolis, MN; four great-grandchildren, Sean, Tiffany, Dylan and Megan; a great-great-grandson, Landon; a sister-in-law, Fern Lysager of Provo, UT; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn in 1997; three brothers, Carl, Rudy and Levi; three sisters, Mabel, Helen and Gladys; and a son-in-law, Richard Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Washburn with Rev. Nancy Hanson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be held next spring in the Woodland Cemetery in Washburn.
Arrangements are by the Bratley Funeral Home and Crematory Services of Washburn.
