Carl Steven Glover, 86, of 2714 Tryon Courthouse Road, died Dec. 20, 2010, at the Robin Johnson House.

Mr. Glover was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Gaston County, son of the late James Lawrence and Margaret Waters Glover.

He was a retired postal Supervisor and retired welding instructor at Gaston College. Carl was an active and faithful member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School director, Deacon, and choir member for over 50 years. He faithfully served his country in the US Army and was a member of the Last Man Club.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Beam Glover, and four brothers and sisters Price Glover, Viola Hudspeth, Ruth Lewis, and Lillian Hinkle.

Survivors include his children Gail G. Allen and husband Sam of Bessemer City, Beth G. Toney and husband Jimmie of Bessemer City, and Richard S. Glover and wife Lisa of Bessemer City, four grandchildren ErinToney Neuschaefer and husband Kevin of Cary, Justin Toney of Bessemer City, Josh Glover of Raleigh, and Brady Glover of Bessemer City., one great grandchild Leighton Neuschaefer, and a sister Bertha G. Lewis of Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held at Mount Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Fain Farmer officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Carpenter's Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
