Beloved daughter of Asheston Parker and the late Melissa "Missy" Kay Melton Parker. Sabrina was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease; the same illness that had killed her mother and grandmother, Lorna Kay Alphin Melton. My cousin Sabrina Kay Parker was an average teenage girl. She was much like my own teenagers, into Facebook and Aeropostale clothes. She played volleyball, softball, loved roller skating, roller coasters, Taco Bell and "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner. After Sabrina's mother died of ALS, she went to live with her father's parents, Noland and Zelma Parker. On Nov. 6, 2009, her dear friend Matt Scozzari finally made her day wonderful by asking her out. She began testing for ALS that day as well. As the disease quickly progressed and her speech became harder to understand, Matt lovingly acted as her interpreter. When she could no longer talk, she found an app for her new iPod Touch that allowed her to type out a sentence and play it back in a slightly mechanical female voice. She wrote Matt notes and they had their own sign language. Matt would come home from school and go straight for Sabrina's house. On November 20, 2010, Matt and Sabrina had a 'friendship ceremony'. Sabrina wore a beautiful dress, Matt wore a tie. On Thanksgiving Day, Sabrina deteriorated rapidly and by Saturday, she was too weak to raise her head. On midnight Nov. 29th, Sabrina's grandparents called Matt to come and he stayed with Sabrina through the night, holding her hand and telling her he loved her. The angels took Sabrina to her mother and grandmother the next morning and Matt kissed her goodbye. Love never dies. Missing you always, dear cousin.
