The death of Mrs. William Ridgley occurred at her home on North State street Tuesday afternoon about 4 o'clock, after a lingering illness of many years. For almost two years past she had not been able to leave her room, and while she held life dear to her because of her pleasant surroundings, yet death came as a relief from her ceaseless sufferings.

Louisa Castor was born in Ross county, Ohio in 1838 and was left an orphan at an early age. In 1843 she moved to Illinois with her adopted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Coon, and settled four miles north of Monticello. She was married to Wm. Ridgley in 1857 and they made their home in the Camp Creek neighborhood. They resided there until 1891, when they moved to Monticello. five children were born to them, of which three survive: Charles H. and John G, of this city and William S., of Taylorville.

Mrs. Ridgley has been a member of the Camp Creek M. E. church since 1858 and has always taken a deep interest in its welfare. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Rev. W. S. Calhoun officiating. Interment at the new cemetery.
