There are several conflicting sources as to the true year of Mack's birth. His death certificate pictured here says he was born in 1869. However, I do not believe this one to be accurate, as he does NOT exist in the 1870 Census in his family's household. The 1900 Census, which gives actual years of birth, lists his birthdate as 1872.
As of now, I have yet to find ANYONE who can tell me about his father, Elias Smith. He is only found in the 1870 Census, and no other record of any kind.
