Obituary:
James "Jim" DeGrush, age 67 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin died peacefully in the comfort of his own home with his loving family by his side on Friday, July 4, 2008.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 6:00 P.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton with Pastor Mike Amberg officiating. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 P.M. until the time of service at 6 P.M. His cremains will be interred at Walnut Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Jim was born June 20, 1941 in Bolton Landing, NY the son of John Frederick and Edna (French) DeGrush. He served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Truax Field in Madison, Wisconsin from November of 1958 until October 1962, where he also met and married the love of his life, Diane Fischer, on July 25, 1962. They moved to Lake Delton in 1963 where they raised their family. Jim worked at the Dells Oasis from 1963 until 1966 and then went to work bartending at Fischer's Supper Club for the family; where he continued to work part-time while pursuing his postal career between the Wisconsin Dells and Lake Delton post offices. He put in a total of 35 years in the post office with 23 years of those years as Postmaster of Lake Delton until he retired on April 30, 2000. After a short retirement he went to work doing outside maintenance for the Polynesian Hotel for two summers; and in May of 2006 Jim and his wife and daughter started the Dam Bar and Grill in Lake Delton. Jim was also active with the Lake Delton Lions Club from 1968 to 1998.

Jim will be dearly missed by his loving wife and best friend, Diane; sons, Mark DeGrush of Alexandria, Virginia and Chadd (Elizabeth) DeGrush stationed at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; a daughter, Cheryl DeGrush of Lake Delton and companion of 10 years, Tim Rice; grandson, Anthony Frederickson of Loves Park, Illinois; sister, Dorothy Bradley of North Creek, NY along with many other cousins, nieces and nephews from the Adirondack region of Upstate New York; a brother and sister in law, Evan and Deanna Fischer of Lake Delton and many dear and close friends. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Frederick DeGrush in 1962 and his mother, Edna Barrett in 2000. And not to forget to mention his faithful companion of 16 years, Herbie, the wonder cat.
