Catherine W. Carter, 111, a resident of the Jones Health Center, Emporia Presbyterian Manor, died there on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive AME Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Benjamin Finnell. One of the oldest women in the United States died at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor over the weekend. Catherine Carter was 111.The oldest woman in the United States is 114 years old, and in Kansas there are a couple of people who are 111 years old. Emporia Presbyterian Director Roger Clausen described Carter as a very gracious lady."She was humble, loved life and was a good inspiration to others," Clausen said.
