Clinton, Iowa - Services for Nancy C. Merritt, 74, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Clinton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today. Mrs. Merritt died Sunday at Bluff Terrace Nursing Home, Clinton. She worked as a registered nurse at Samaritan North Hospital, Clinton, for 30 years, retiring in 1978. Nancy Hendrix married Kenneth Merritt in 1945 in Newberry, S.C. He died in 1975. She was a graduate of the Newberry College of Nursing. She moved to Clinton in 1946. She was a member of the Nursing Association of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Lyons Methodist Church and its Dorcas Circle. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Mrs. Tony) Bakhtiar, Woodland Hills, Calif.; sons, Robert T., Clinton; Calvin B., Stockton, Calif.; and Charles Elkins, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Bouknight, Martha Bowers and Betty Willingham, all of Newberry; Mae Wiehrs, Columbia, S.C.; Leora Walker, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and Froni Chaney, Spartanburg, S.C.; and brothers, Harold and Boyd Hendrix, both of Newberry.
