Alvin Hoskins, 88, father of Louis Hoskins, former minister at the Clinton Corners Friends Church, who now resides at Collins, died yesterday at a nursing home near Collins. Mr. Hoskins was born in southeast Iowa on May 3, 1873. As a boy he moved to South Dakota and became a minister at Friends Meetings in Nebraska. He moved to Iowa in the early 1900s and served there until his retirement in 1949. Since his retirement, he was been living with his son. His wife Maggie died in 1953. In addition to his son, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Alson Van Wagner, Hyde Park; three grandchildren, John, George and Marcia Van Wagner, Hyde Park; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Halling, California and Mrs. Veryl Kent, North Carolina.
