BATH – Esther C. Barkley, 90, formerly of Bath, died Wednesday, April 20, 1988 at her home in Orlando, Fla.
She was born April 12, 1898 in Bradford to Frederick and Ella Stanton Axtell. Her husband, Stanley D. Barkley, died in 1974.
She was a private duty nurse in Bath and had also worked at the Bath Hospital.
Surviving are: five daughters, Mildred Carr of Horseheads, Flora Reed of Bath, Harriett Gohr of Buffalo, Celia Ross of Maine, N.Y. and Georgianna Kovac of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Kenneth of Bath and Henry of Greensville, Ohio; a sister, Ellen DeLaVergne of Dansville; 43 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Two sons, Frederick and Clyde Barkley, and three daughters, Frances, Charlotte and Victoria Barkley, all died previously.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Bond-David Funeral Home, Bath. Funeral and committal services will be there 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Clair Statham officiating. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mitchellsvillle United Methodist Church.
