On 7 May 1907 in Putnam County, Indiana, he married his first wife, Sarah Margaret Thomas. Date of birth at that time is recorded as 31 December 1887 and his name is spelled Lee Roy Clark.

His WWI draft registration on 5 June 1917, confirms he is married and has one child. The military recorded his as being "tall" and "stout" with brown eyes and hair. His birth is incorrectly listed as 31 December 1888.

"Roy" died in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan, on 8 August 1941 leaving behind his second wife, Lura Irene Weeks.
