Funeral Services for Fannie Jo Bedingfield Holt, age 94, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 22, 2010, in the Cadwell Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Cadwell Cemetery. Rev. Glynn Cranford and Rev. Al Haywood will officiate. Mrs. Holt died Saturday, December 18, 2010 in the Westbury Medical Care Home in Jackson.

Mrs. Holt lived most of her life in Cadwell. She was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Bedingfield and the widow of the late Carl Emory Holt. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Bedingfield. She was the second person to receive the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education degree from the University of Georgia. She received the Master of Education degree from Georgia Southern University. Mrs. Holt served as the first Director of Nursing Service at Laurens Memorial Hospital. She taught school several years in Laurens County and retired as Counselor at West Laurens High School. Mrs. Holt was a member of Cadwell Baptist Church where she served as church clerk for thirty seven years. Also was a member of Baptist Women on Mission for many years. She was a member of Daughters of American Revolution and the Oconee Chapter of United Daughters of Confederacy. In 1977 she authored the book "77 YEARS: A HISTORY OF CADWELL".

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Carla and David Nestor of Jenkinsburg, sister Edna Branch of Tifton, brother Dr. James A. Bedingfield of Baxley, sister in law, Sue Holt of Blountville, TN, and several nieces and nephews.
