Selected to the rank of Career Minister in 1948, he represented President Truman at the inauguration of Dr. Juan Manuel Galvez as president of Honduras (rank of Special Ambassador) in 1949. Appointed as Chief, Career Development Staff, in 1956 and received the State Department Distinguished Service award in 1959.
