Dessie J. Henle
HENLE, DESSIE J., 82, of Louisville, passed away Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Marian Home. She was retired from the Marian Home after working as a nurse's aid for 27 years prior to residing there. Dessie grew up in an orphanage and that experience taught her that family included more than the people to whom she was related. Dessie raised five children and she took in and sheltered many others. Additionally, she spent her adult life as a nurse caring for the sick and elderly. Dessie passed on to her children who in turn passed on to their's the importance of charity and the power of unconditional love. No matter how little Dessie had, there was always a place at her table for those who were less fortunate. Therefore, she was a woman who had few earthly possessions but she was always rich in love. Dessie was preceded in death by her husband, George Rudolf Henle Jr. Survivors include her children, Dessie R. Schatz, Leisa A. Koleski (Danny), George R. Henle III, and John J. Henle (Kristine Crawford); nine grandchildren; and seven and one-half great-grandchildren. Her family will be holding a private funeral service at the Marian Home for Dessie. All memorial gifts are requested to take the form of a donation to the Marian Home, 3105 Lexington Road, Louisville, KY 40206.
