MAN OF BUSINESS HAS SUDDEN CALL
Alexander Buntin Passes Away After Few Days' Illness
Alexander Buntin of the firm of Buntin-Reid, paper manufacturers, died yesterday morning at his residence, 15 Elm Avenue, in his fifty-eighth year. He had been in good health until last Friday, when he was taken suddenly ill at his office and hurried to his home in an unconscious condition. He never regained consciousness.
The late Mr. Buntin was born in Montreal, the son of the late Alexander Buntin, proprietor of the Valleyfield Paper Mills. He was educated at Craigmount College, Edinburgh, Scotland; Bishop's College, Lennoxville, and Kingston Collegiate Institute. After serving two years in the mercantile marine service, and a brief experience cattle ranching in Arizona, he went to Valleyfield to learn paper-making, and in 1892, succeeded his father in the firm of Buntin, Reid & Co., becoming sole proprietor and manager in 1894.
Two daughters survive, Mrs. W.F. Phillips and Mrs. John Boyd, both of Toronto.
