James Kasson was born in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, Ireland, a son of Adam and Jane Hall Kasson. The family immigrated to the United States in 1722. James married Esther Duncan on Oct. 14, 1740 in Litchfield, CT. They were the parents of: Margaret, Jean, Sarah, James, George, Adam and Esther Kasson. After Esther's death, James married Margaret Dixon on June 8, 1758, in Woodbury, CT. They were the parents of: Jean, Jane, Olive, Adam, George Dixon and Mary Ann Kasson.
