Joy Margaret Amos Matthews, was the daughter of the late Stanley James & Ellen Maude Reade Amos and had lived in Valdosta for twenty seven years. She was a member of the Church of England and retired from the Credit Bureau in Valdosta as the office manager.

On June 1, 1963 she married Johnny Matthews at St. Mary's Church in Newton Flotman England. She had been active in VSU Learning in Retirement and taught knitting classes for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Johnny Matthews of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, Gary and Connie Matthews of Warner Robins, daughter and son in law, Lisa and Joseph Wagner of Valdosta, three grandchildren, Christopher Ryan Matthews, Michael John Matthews both of Warner Robins and Allison Victoria Wagner of Valdosta, sister and brother in law, Shirley Ann and Patrick Brigham of Little Plumstead, England, special friends, James "Doug" and Maria Duggins of Warner Robins, Lorita Booker, Myrtle McDonald both of Valdosta and Kris and Lynn Golden of Pensacola, Fla. She was preceded in death by her dear childhood friend, Pauline Wiseman Brooks of Hempnall, England.
