Zenos Young Winget.

Funeral services for Zenos Young Winget, 83, who died Monday of last week at his home west of Epworth, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Million & Barkelew funeral home in Shelbina.

Burial was in the Zion cemetery west of Bethel.

He was born in Adams, Illinois, on Jan. 20, 1862.

On February 20, 1894 he was married to Miss Alpha Browning, who preceded him in death August 16, 1940.

Survivors are three children, Mrs. Edna Wester of near Shelbyville, Curtis Winget of Riverside, California, and Chester Winget of the home, two grandchildren, Mrs. Earlene Copenhaver of Leonard and Pfc. Aubrey Wester of the armed forces in Germany, and three great grandchildren, Viocra and Betty Jean Wester and Richard Alan Copenhaver.

Zenos Y. Winget, b. Jan. 20, 1862, and wife, Alpha Browning Winget, b. Dec. 1, 1861, had three children: Edna, Curtis, and Chester. William Winget, b. Aug. 15, 1827 in Mansfield, Ohio, moved with his family to Illinois, later moved with his son, Zenos and family, to make his home with them in Missouri. They moved in the early part of 1895 to a farm located three miles east and 1/2 mile north of Leonard. They moved with a team of horses and wagon and crossed the Mississippi River on the ice. They were the last to cross the river as they could hear the ice crackle as they came across. William Winget passed away Oct. 18, 1897.
