James Anderson Miller was born 28 September 1877 in Edgewood, Illinois. He was a son of George and Martha Miller.

James Anderson Miller served in the Spanish American War. In civilian life he worked as an educator. He was a school teacher and school superintendent in Colorado and in Illinois.

Mr. Miller belonged to Park Baptist church in Brookfield, Missouri. He was a member of the United Spanish American War Veterans' camp, and once served as the camp commander.

James Anderson Miller passed away 6 July 1953 at his residence, Cottage 22 of the Illinois Veterans' Home, Quincy Illinois. He had lately been under a doctor's care.

Left to mourn were various relatives including his widow, who also resided at the Veterans' Home; one son, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two brothers, one sister and various nieces and nephews.
