Sylvia Jane McDonald, 69, of Calico Springs Drive, Harmony, died on Friday, December 17, 2010, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Born in Gaston County on May 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William "Bill" and Fann Burr Anderson Humphries. She was retired from Saks and was a member of the Mocksville Church of God. Her husband, Albert "Al" Vernon McDonald, preceded her in death in 2007.
She is survived by a daughter, Katie Mauney (John) Whitcomb of Harmony; a sister, June (Vann) Brewster of Charlotte, and 2 grandchildren, West Allen Whitcomb and Sara Blair Whitcomb.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 19, at 3:00 p.m. in the Davie Funeral Service Chapel with Pastors Larry Hollifield and Daniel Gamble officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be on Monday, December 20, at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
