Elsie Maranda Johnson Wright
SPARTA -- Funeral services for Elsie Maranda Johnson Wright, 97, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, at Springhill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 4 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 17, at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta and from noon until time of services on Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Wright died Wednesday morning, Dec. 15, 2010, in Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville.
She was born May 20, 1913, in White County to the late Mansfield and Maggie Jane Holder Johnson.
Mrs. Wright was a member of Springhill Baptist Church since 1924.
Her family includes three sons and daughters-in-law, Marion and Marie Wright of Cookeville and Wayne and Nelda Wright and Casey and Faye Wright, all of Walling; four grandchildren, Debbie Chenkus of Harriman, Michael Wright of Cookeville, Bryan Wright of Brush Creek and Jeff Wright of Walling; two stepgrandchildren, Kim Willard of Utah and Melissa Selby of Sparta; five great-grandchildren, Sara, John, Jack, Ashley and Jackson; and six stepgreat-grandchildren, Ben, Jessica, Erica, Monica, Marlo and Reece.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, William Hershel (Jack) Wright; five brothers, Lesel, Willie, Haskel, Thurman and Herman; and four sisters, Lola, Lela, Effie and Edna.
Alton Marcum, Tim Pellam and James Wright will officiate at the services.
