March 18, 1937 — April 19, 2006

OLATHE — Calvin Carrico, age 69, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, April 19, 2006, after enduring a long illness.

Calvin, the son of Berlan and Beulah (Anders) Carrico, was born at the Olathe Clinic on March 18, 1937. He graduated from the Olathe High School in 1955 and attended college for a time. He surveyed and worked at the Olathe Elevator before going back to his love of farming.

Calvin met the love of his life, Sherry Bowers, at a softball game were they both pitched on opposing teams. He decided to give her a few pointers and a relationship soon developed and they were married on Nov. 26, 1963.

Calvin and Sherry raised three children: Cynthia Pace (Bryan), of Olathe, Colo., Christine Wright (Keith), of Akron, Colo., and James Carrico (Nichole McCartee), of Olathe, Colo. They were blessed with five grandchildren: Eric and Hannah Pace, Michelle and Bethany Wright, and Alexis Carrico. Calvin loved to spoil them with chocolate kisses and, of course, lots of teasing.

Calvin was blessed with many friends and relatives who always felt welcome to come visit and talk farming. He had a large repertoire of stories he loved to share mainly about the good ol' days.

Calvin raised many crops, but especially enjoyed raising and packaging potatoes. He hired help every summer and fall for harvest and would often give the help a "hard time" but they were always more than willing to come back and work the next harvest.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Berlan and Beulah (Anders) Carrico and his only brother, Larry Carrico.

Even though Calvin was looking forward to heaven and being with his Lord, he treasured his family and friends. Calvin will indeed be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Olathe Assembly of God, In Memory of Calvin Carrico, 402 N. Highway 50 Business Loop, Olathe, CO 81425.

Arrangements are being handled under the direction of the Montrose Valley Funeral Home, 505 S. Second St., in Montrose, (970) 249-4400.
