John Benjamin (J.B.) Lovin, 87, of Lake Bowen, died Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Spartanburg Restorative Care after a short illness. He was the son of the late John Calvin and Oshie Belle Green Lovin.

He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and a member of the senior adult mens Sunday School class. He was retired from Drayton Mills as a Loom Fixer. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, having fought in Belgium, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe and the Battle of the Bulge as an artilleryman. He served with the 272nd field artillery Battalion and was a member of VFW Post 4873.

He was first married to the late Annie Belle Cole Lovin and then to the late Dorothy Scott Alverson Lovin.

He is survived by a son, Thomas Calvin Lovin and fianceé, Jo Ann of Lake Bowen; daughters, Geraldine Lovin Nichols and husband Buddy of Camp Croft and Sherry Lovin Parker and husband Kenny of Lake Bowen; grandchildren, Lisa Horne, Brian Nichols, Michael Nichols, April Marvin, Leslie Wylie, Patrick Parker, and Nick Parker; seven great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Ann Fowler. He is predeceased by a brother, T.C. Lovin; and a sister, Lucille L. Ezell.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 19, 2010, at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM at Eggers Funeral Chapel officiated by the Rev. Skip Snyder and the Rev. Ron Gaddy. Burial will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
