Ocala - Douglas Lee Whitehead, 90, of Ocala, passed away Dec. 15, 2010 at Hawthorne Village Nursing Center in Ocala. A native of Edison, Georgia, he was born April 16, 1920 to Pierce and Manila (Lawless) Whitehead and moved to Marion County from Gainesville in 1966. Mr. Whitehead was a retired electrician for Chuck Armitage Electric and was a WWII U.S. Army sergeant, serving in the Pacific Theater. Douglas was a member of Eureka First Baptist Church and is survived by son Huey L. Whitehead (Carolyn) of Ocala; brother Mack Goff of Coolidge, GA; sister Beth Harrison of Moultrie, GA; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Whitehead was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, The Late Frances Whitehead, on Oct. 13, 1987. Funeral services will be held on Sat., Dec. 18th at 1:00 P.M. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala with Rev. Keith Duncan officiating. Private interment will follow at Forest Meadows Cemetery East, Gainesville. www.forestlawnocala.com
