Dannie "Roger" Hartley, Sr.

A production supervisor at Honeywell Inc. (formerly Allied Signal Corp. Baton Rouge South Works) and a resident and native of Port Allen, he passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at his home. He was 76 and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, Sunday, Dec. 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home Monday, Dec. 20, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. He is survived by a daughter, Janet Landry and husband Aaron; two sons, James Stanton Hartley Sr. and Steven Wayne Hartley; a sister, Margie Floyd and husband Donald; seven grandchildren, Marlena Kauffman, Cpl. James Stanton Hartley Jr., USMC, Adam Joseph Hartley, Sgt. Jason Thurmond, USMC, Nicole Camp, Kaci Landry Daigle and husband Joe and Chad Aaron Landry; great-grandchildren, Kailey Wolf, Blaize Daigle, Gracie Jean Venendal, Michael and Brooke Kauffman, Mafia Alexander, Jason Wayne Jr. and Esmeralda Zarai Thurmond; and very special friend, Carolyn Blanchard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene "Jean" Southall Hartley; son, Dannie Roger Hartley Jr.; father, Roy Hobson Hartley; mother and stepfather, Clara Christine Noble and Walter "Nick" Nichols; sister, Kathy Nichols; and brothers, Gerald "Jerry" and Walter Stanton Nichols. He always put his family and other before himself, especially his grandchildren, whom he brought to school faithfully every morning. He was a 1953 graduate of Port Allen High School, a loyal Order of the Moose lodge member, a former employee of the West Baton Rouge Reserve Sheriff's Office and the Work Release Center.
