Leslie C. Bates Has Succumbed
Death Occurred This Morning at Family Home on East River Street
Leslie C. Bates, aged 34 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Bates, 357 East River street, died Wednesday morning after a brief illness from pneumonia. The deceased was well known throughout the city and possessed a large circle of friends. He is survived by his parents and one brother, Marion; one sister, Mrs. James Johnson, and four children.
Funeral services will be held at the family residence Friday after noon at 3 o'clock. Interment will be made in Ridgelawn cemetery.

Died at 357 East River street, Leslie C. Bates son of Frank and Dora Bates, was born in Paulding, Ohio, December 14, 1882 and departed this life October 30, 1918, age 34 years, 10 months and 16 days. He was united in marriage to Pearl Austin, at Kipton, Ohio, August 3, 1902. To this union was born four children, three sons and one daughter. Those left to mourn the loss are a father, mother, one brother, Marion Bates and family of Florence, O., one sister, Mrs. James Johnson and family, of this city, four children, Paul, Carl, Thelma and Bruce, and a large circle of friends.
He was a kind father and one who loved his mother dearly. So dear friends, when you view his remains for the last time, do not remember him as in days gone by, but remember him as one in his last sickness who gave his heart to his God and trusting in Jesus as his Savior. Let us not judge each other from the sight of our eyes, but let God judge us from the interest of the heart. Please remember him as such a friend.
