C, 166th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"). Quickly promoted to corporal, he was also promoted to sergeant January 12, 1863, and honorably discharged with his company July 28, 1863, in York.
He married Sarah J. Weaver and fathered Ida Jane (b. 01/05/67, d. 03/17/73) and George M. (b. 08/09/79). In 1870, was a farmer living in Dover Township, York County, and, in 1880, was a retail grocer in Davidsburg, Dover Township. He died in Dover Township at age 76-6-13 from "arteriosclerosis."
