She was a student at Ozarka College in Melbourne, where she was studying to be a physical therapist. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Melbourne.
Mrs Ballard is survived by her husband, Thomas Ballard of the home; one son, Evan Thomas Ballard; her parents, Greg and Deanna Sherrell of Oxford, and Teresa and John Vest of Melbourne; one sister, Melissa Sherrell of Melbourne; one step-sister, Jana Watkins of Jonesboro; two brothers, Jason Sherrell and Eric Vest both of Melbourne; maternal grandfather, Leonard Hamley of Melbourne; paternal grandparents, Charles and Bernice Sherrell of Oxford; paternal great-grandfather, Hearl Sherrell of Oxford; step-grandparents, Anne Vest of Kansas City, Missouri and Emmett Vest of Melbourne. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Willie Hamley.
Funeral services were held on February 8, 2002, at the First Baptist Church of Melbourne with Brother Doyne Robertson officiating. Pallbearers were Nathan Champ, Justin Champ, Brent Barnes, Mark Herrington, Kenny Stapleton, and Shawn Thornley.
Interment was at the Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
