Dies Sunday

Mrs. Joe Virgin Winchester, 86, better known as "Granny" Winchester died at Pool Clinic last Sunday night after a short illness. Mrs Winchester was well known and loved by the people in this community who mourn her passing.

Services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Floyd West of Purcell, pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Ira R. Jenkins, Maysville, officiating.

Burial was in the Maysville Cemetery with Winans Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Granny Winchester came to Garvin County from Mississippi in 1930 with her husband and family and settled first at Old McGee near Stratford, where their eldest son became ill and passed on.

Later they moved to Elmore City community where they engaged in farming until Mr. Winchester died in 1934 and she came to Maysville to make her home with her son W. A. Winchester and family, until her death.

Survivors include the son W. A. Winchester, Maysville; two daughters, Mrs. Vaner Tucker, Long View, Texas, and Mrs. Myrtle Hester, Oklahoma City, 16 grand children and 17 great grandchildren.
