Melvin L. Boyd was born in Rector, Arkansas on April 24, 1927, the son of the late Robert Boyd and Lillie (Foster) Boyd.
He served his country in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment.
On July 29, 1949 he married Rosellen Kirkland in Rector, Arkansas. Mr. Boyd retired from GM in 1987, spending 23 wonderful years of his retirement enjoying the summers on Lake Huron and winters in Ellenton, Florida. He loved cooking, fishing, going to the casino and especially loved spending time with his family. He was known for reciting poems and limericks and his good sense of humor.
Melvin L. Boyd, of Greenbush, Michigan, formerly, of Flint, age 83, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at his residence.
Melvin Boyd was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Rosellen Boyd; children, Stan Boyd, Sue Borel, Jane and husband Mark Withey; grandchildren, John, Erin, Devon, Jennifer, Michael, Andrew, Melanie and Bonnie; great-grandchildren, L.J. and Grant.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Boyd; grandson, Melvin W. Boyd and three sisters.
